What is a Black Diamond
Black diamonds, scientifically known as carbonado, are a rare and unique variety of natural diamond that appear completely jet black and opaque. They are made of pure carbon and share the same hardness level of 10 on the Mohs scale as regular black diamonds. Their black color comes from dark mineral inclusions such as graphite, pyrite, and hematite, which prevent light from passing through and give them a deep metallic shine. Structurally, they are polycrystalline, formed from millions of tiny diamond crystals fused together, making them harder to cut and polish than regular diamonds.
